On 25th April 2022, the Conservative party hosted it’s first ever iftar reception at it’s headquarters in London. The iftar reception was organised by the Chairman of the Conservative Muslim Forum (CMF), Cllr Hashim Bhatti.
Hashim said ‘ this was an historic event and something that was long overdue. The chairman and his team have shown a real willingness to engage and to work together on issues that matter to the Muslim community’.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Conservative party, Oliver Dowden MP, thanked the Muslim community for their contributions especially during Ramadan where Muslims donate over £130m to charities worldwide. He expressed his commitment to working with the CMF and wished the Muslim community a spiritual final days ahead of Eid celebrations.
The Chairman also outlined the Conservative Party’s commitment to stamp out Islamophobia from society, as well as his plans to welcome more Muslims into public life. This follows the opening of the Conservative Party’s new headquarters in Leeds, helping to access reach in the north of the country.
Lord Sheikh also spoke on the evening as the President of CMF and commented that he was proud of Boris Johnson’s leadership in delivering Brexit, the vaccination rollout and standing with Ukraine.
The evening started and closed with Quran recitations from Squadron Leader Imam Ali Omar of the Armed Forces.
In attendance were various MP’s, party activists, friends groups and dignitaries.

What an incredible night launching the Manchester North West branch at a sold out event at the British Muslim Heritage centre this week. Yesterday the team from North West organised an event for the British Muslim community in Leicester. We can proudly say that the membership drive is now up and running with 20-25 new members. We also discussed the possibility of opening a new CMF Leicestershire branch…@CCHQPress

Over the weekend our new Chairman did a 25km trek to raise money for UK based charities. The chosen charity was The Graham Layton Trust and total of £15,000 has been raised by the team so far…

Yesterday our Chairman hosted Afternoon Tea alongside Lord Sheikh in the @UKHouseofLords to lay out his priorities for the coming year and to hear from our members. There was a waiting list of over 50ppl for the sold out event…

Congratulations to Hashim Bhatti who was unanimously elected as our new Chairman. He will be supported by Naveed Asghar and Omar Bush along with the Executive Board.
Hashim joined the Board back in 2012 and has held various roles within the organisation.

Dear All,
As the Acting Chair of the CMF, I would like to wish all our members and Executive team Eid Mubarak.
Eid Al-Adha will be celebrated by Muslims across the United Kingdom on Tuesday 20th July 2021 (tomorrow). Eid Al-Adha celebrates the end of Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca which every Muslim should undertake once during their lifetime if he or she is well enough and can afford to do so.
The festival remembers the devotion to God and obedience of the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him), who did not hesitate when God commanded him to sacrifice his son, a story that is found in the Bible as well as in the Quran.
