Lord Sheikh (Chairman of CMF) and Lady Sheikh (Member of Executive Committee) attended the Commonwealth Day Observance at Westminster Abbey in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh.

In the evening Lord and Lady Sheikh attended a reception at Marlborough House on the occasion of the Commonwealth Day.

At the reception Lord and Lady Sheikh were presented to the Queen. Lord Sheikh spoke to the Queen and commented that he had spoken in the House of Lords and elsewhere on the role of the Commonwealth. He also mentioned that he felt the Commonwealth can perhaps play a greater role on conflict resolution and also promotion of trade between the various Commonwealth members.
